2600 years ago Thales, a Greek philosopher, attempted to explain earthquakes without reference to mythology. He believed that all that we saw around us could be explained by a set of natural laws. Science means ‘knowledge’ and it is the job of scientists to search for these natural laws through experimentation and logic. As the human race has gained knowledge through the scientific method it has given us the power to control the world like never before. And still the quest for this knowledge continues.
Science is the perfect subject to complement a child’s natural curiosity. Students embrace it when they ask questions, like “What is the Aurora Borealis?” or “Why do we dream?”. We encourage all of our students to ask questions and then form their own opinions, rather than accepting those of others.

Science has split into three areas. Biology, Chemistry and Physics. At Key Stage 3 students follow a topic based Combined Science curriculum. At Key Stage 4 students will either follow the AQA Trilogy course or the AQA Separate Science option. At Key Stage 5 students can follow AQA Biology, Chemistry or Physics.
